Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, it was transferred to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran quit the firm shortly after. Corcoran was one of ABC's initial Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. In February 2020, Corcoran had made 53 deals, with the most significant being a $350,000 investment which was able to cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was a bouncing from job to job throughout Corcoran's childhood. The family relied on the food provided by a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran remembers her father, who was a drunk at times excessively, and treated her mother disrespectfully and condescendingly, particularly after he'd had a few drinks. Corcoran struggled in school and later learned that she had dyslexia. Corcoran entered in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending an Catholic primary school. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
